Indianapolis Colts avoid a winless season, beat Titans

Carolina Panthers v Indianapolis ColtsGetty Images
Roughly 35 seconds apart in real time, the Packers fell to 13-1 and the Colts climbed to 1-13.
Indianapolis got it done against Tennessee, with a 27-13 win over the Titans.
With a 20-6 lead in the fourth quarter, the Colts allowed the 7-7 Titans to score their first touchdown of the day, cutting the lead to 20-13.  On the next play from scrimmage, Colts running back Donald Brown went 80 yards with a Marcus Allen-style field-reversing run to give the home team a 14-point lead.

Ndamukong Suh returns from suspension with game winning field goal block

Stafford was able to drive the Lions down the field 98 yards for a score to give the Lions a 28-27 lead over Oakland, but they left 39 seconds on the clock.  With two timeouts and the best kicker in the league, this lead was not safe.  Carson Palmer was able to move the Raiders down the field.  They were able to setup Sebastian Janikowski for a 65 yard field goal attempt with only 4 seconds left on the clock.

Janikowski is well known for having the strongest leg in the game, already the co-owner of the NFL's longest field goal in history.  With an opportunity to be the hero, instead it was Ndamukong Suh that stole the moment.  It was his ability to elevate and extend his right arm and block Janikowski's kick, and save the day for the Lions.  Suh otherwise had a quite day, but this is a great way for him to get back in the good graces of his coaches and teammates.

Know will need back surgery

Johnny KnoxAP
Bears receiver Johnny Knox suffered a serious back injury on Sunday early in Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.  Bent backward awkwardly, Knox left via a stretcher to be evaluated at a local hospital.
As a result of the injury, Knox will have back surgery Monday to stabilize a vertebrate in his back.  The team has announced that the procedure will occur.
According to the Bears, the long-term prognosis is positive for the third-year wideout from Abilene Christian.  In the short term, the Bears will need help at the positive, given the recent decision to dump Sam Hurd.

Cards not married to Kevin Kolb

According to Jason La Canfora on NFL Network, the Cardinals could dump Kevin Kolb before March 1st, and they would only be out the $12 million that they paid him for this season.  This gives them a lot of freedom, despite signing him to a $60 million contract prior to the start of the season. With Kolb's injuries and the fact the Skelton has played well in his absence, this might not be too far from the direction the Cards take this offseason.
