Buccaneers land their 3rd big signing with Eric Wright

Joe Fortenbaugh - National Football Post
It hasn’t even been 24 hours since the 2012 free agent market opened for business, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are already doing everything in their power to spend a big chunk of that $44 million worth of cap space they’re sitting on.
After locking down wide receiver Vincent Jackson to a $55 million contract on Tuesday and somewhere in between their pursuit of offensive guard Carl Nicks, the Buccaneers reached an agreement on a five-year deal with free agent cornerback Eric Wright, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Financial particulars of the agreement weren’t immediately made available.
One of the league’s most dreadful defenses in 2011, the Bucs ranked 21st against the pass (238.4 yds/gm) and dead last in scoring defense (30.9 pts/gm) last season.
In Wright, the team acquires a five-year veteran who tied a career-high with four interceptions last season while playing for the Lions.
Next up looks to be a deal for Carl Nicks.
UPDATE: Wright's deal is reportedly worth $37.5 million with $15.5 million guaranteed, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
