Brady takes a beating from Boston writer

In sports, at least in the eyes of some, you’re only as good as your last game. And at least in the mind of one Boston sports writer, that means Tom Brady is not very good.
In a column that takes a sneering tone and blames Brady for the Patriots’ Super Bowl XLVI loss, Eric Wilbur of Boston.com goes after Brady with a vengeance you’d expect from a Jets fan message board.
Words like “hideous” and “embarrassing” are tossed around to describe Brady’s performance, and the responsibility for the Pats’ loss is placed squarely on Brady’s shoulders.

Greg Jones seizes the moment

Giants linebacker Greg Jones pulled an Ian Johnson.
Johnson became famous for popping the question to his cheerleader girlfriend after Boise State’s Fiesta Bowl win a few years back. Jones quietly got down on one knee to ask his girlfriend to marry him amidst the confetti at Lucas Oil Stadium last night, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger.

Gisele rips Patriots for dropping Tom's passes

And here comes the drama.
After last night’s 21-17 loss in the Super Bowl, the wife of Patriots quarterback Tom Bradywas making her way to the team’s locker room.  Along the way, Gisele Bundchen (I continue to refuse to call her a “supermodel” until she displays at least one super power) vented regarding the inability of some of Tom’s teammates to secure balls that hit them in the hands.

Welker shoulders the blame

The Patriots had a huge opportunity to put Super Bowl XLVI away when Tom Bradypassed to an open Wes Welker on a second-and-11 pass with four minutes left in the game.
If Welker catches that pass, the Patriots get a new set of downs and the ball in field goal range while leading 17-15. Even if New England hadn’t gained another yard from there they could have taken time off the clock and kicked a field goal, and it’s possible that they would have either taken all the remaining time off the clock or scored a game-sealing touchdown. Instead, the pass was incomplete, as was Brady’s next pass, and New England had to punt the ball back to the Giants, who now had plenty of time for their game-winning drive.

Eli, Brady, Coughlin, Weatherford set Super Bowl records

Super Bowl XLVI is in the books.  And four men have added their names to the Super Bowl record books.
Courtesy of the NFL, the men who set Super Bowl records on Sunday night were Eli ManningTom Brady, Tom Coughlin, and Steve Weatherford.
Eli has the most completions to start a Super Bowl game with nine.  Brady has the most consecutive completions in Super Bowl history with 16.  Brady also is the career Super Bowl leader in attempts (197), completions (127), and yards (1,277).
At 65, Coughlin is the oldest coach to ever win a Super Bowl.  Weatherford has the most punts inside the 10 yard line in one game, with three.
Most importantly for Eli, Coughlin, and Weatherford:  They’ll soon have brand-new Super Bowl rings.

Tom Brady: "We just didn't make enough plays"

For a player who built much of his reputation on playing great in the biggest of games, Tom Brady has had a lot of recent playoff disappointments. With Sunday’s loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI, the Patriots have now lost four of their last six postseason games.
Brady certainly didn’t have a terrible game against the Giants — he was a lot better tonight than he was two weeks ago, when he admitted that he “sucked” against the Ravens in the AFC Championship — but he didn’t make as many plays as his counterpartEli Manning.
