Patriots sign Robert Gallery

Charlie Whitehurst, Robert GalleryAP
NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi reports that the Patriots have agreed to terms on a contract with free agent guard Robert Gallery.
Coach Bill Belichick was high on Gallery leading up to the 2004 NFL draft, and Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England wrote in May of 2011 that the Pats were still “enamored” with the former No. 2 overall pick. While Gallery has since changed positions from tackle to guard and turns 32 before the season, at the very least he can add veteran depth to the interior of the Patriots’ offensive line.
Gallery has become increasingly injury prone late in his NFL career. He’s missed 18 games over the past three seasons.
The Seahawks cut Gallery on March 14.

Jets sign LaRon Landry to a one year deal

Washington Redskins v Philadelphia EaglesGetty Images
The Jets’ aggressive push for LaRon Landry has paid off.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter ‏reports that Landry reached an agreement with the Jets on a one-year, $4 million deal.
For the Jets, it’s a big move that shores up the safety position, which was a big question mark in their defense. When he’s healthy Landry can be a tough, physical playmaker who looks like he should be a good fit for Rex Ryan’s schemes.
The big question is whether he’ll be healthy for 16 games in 2012. Landry missed eight games last year and seven the year before, and the Achilles injury he suffered last year is a concern. But if Landry is healthy, this is a big deal for the Jets.

Tim Tebow is on the trading block

Peyton Manning has informed the Broncos that he wants to play in Denver, and that means Tim Tebow is now on the trading block.
We reported when the Broncos first began their pursuit of Manning that Tebow would be traded if Manning signed with the Broncos, and now ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter are reporting that the Tebow trade talks are set to commence.

Peyton Manning will join the Broncos

peytonsaturdayReuters
Peyton Manning has spent almost his entire NFL career putting his hands under Jeff Saturday’s backside, and he may continue to do that in Denver.
Shortly after the news broke that Manning has informed the Broncos he wants to sign with them, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Manning and John Elway have already talked about the Broncos signing Saturday, a free agent center who has been with the Colts since 1999.
Saturday had drawn interest from the Titans (who also hoped he could help lure Manning), and the Packers. But the Broncos will instantly become the favorites to acquire Saturday’s services now that Manning is in the fold.
For Elway, the Broncos’ front office boss, there’s always been an offseason Plan A and an offseason Plan B. Plan A included not only signing Manning but also making other moves to put the right talent around Manning. Plan A includes trading Tim Tebowwhich the Broncos will now try to do, and it also includes signing Saturday.
If Saturday does sign with the Broncos, Manning will have his longtime security blanked with him in Denver. Signing Saturday is a move that makes too much sense not to happen.

Could Mike Wallace join Moss and Manningham in San Fran?

With most of the teams that wanted a wide receiver already signing one in free agency, it’s beginning to look more likely that the Steelers will be able to hold onto restricted free agent Mike Wallace. But don’t rule out the 49ers making a run at him.
Peter King writes in his Monday Morning Quarterback column at SI.com that the 49ers may consider making an offer for Wallace, especially if they end up losing out onPeyton Manning and failing to re-sign Alex Smith, in which case they’d be saving money at quarterback — and desperate to help their passing game at another position.

Ryan Clark: "No one!" wants to go to the Dolphins

So why are the Dolphins having a hard time luring free agents to South Beach?  Steelers safety Ryan Clark has a theory.
After Clark congratulated quarterback Matt Flynn on joining the Seahawks via Twitter, one of Clark’s followers writes that “NO ONE wants to go to the Dolphins!”  Clark responds by saying, “No one!  To believe I almost went there but it was easy decision not to.”

Reggie Nelson stays in Cincinnati

Despite drawing interest from several other teams, free agent defensive back Reggie Nelson won’t leave Cincinnati.
Nelson has re-signed with the Bengals, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. There’s no immediate word on the terms of the contract.
In 2011 Nelson was a major presence on a surprisingly good Bengals defense. He started all 16 games, had four interceptions (including one he returned for a 75-yard touchdown in a win over the Seahawks), 12 passes defensed and two sacks.
Among the teams most interested in Nelson were the Jets, who made him an offer. But in the end Nelson decided to stay where he was, and he’ll be back in Cincinnati.
