Lions in the news again for the wrong reasons

Wild Card Playoffs - Detroit Lions v New Orleans SaintsGetty Images
It’s been a bad week for the Lions.
A day after 2011 second-round draft pickMikel Leshoure made the wrong kind of headlines for, among other things, allegedly treating “wacky tobacky” like chewing tobacco, 2011 first-round pick Nick Fairley has been arrested for marijuana possession.
According to the Mobile Press-Register, Fairley has been charged with second-degree possession, a misdemeanor.
Police had received complaints about a car speeding through the Morningside Manor neighborhood.  As it turned out, Fairley was driving the vehicle.  Marijuana was then found in Fairley’s possession.
A Mobile native, Fairley played college football at Auburn before sliding to the middle of round one last April.  A preseason foot injury limited him to 10 regular-season appearances, with no starts, in 2011.

Seattle Seahawks unveil new Nike uniform

With the changing of the NFL apparel guard, Nike has moved to the forefront of the NFL stage with their redesign of NFL uniforms.  Some teams saw very minimal design changes overall to this point, but the Seattle Seahawks appear to be the one exception.

We have known since last season that they were getting a uniform overhaul, but the look that they went with is rather disappointing to me.  I personally loved their silver and blue with just hints of green from their original uniforms that lasted up until the late 90's.  With many mentions of a possible return to retro there was a lot of speculation that the team would go back to silver and blue, and ditch their current dark blue flavor.  However the  additions of grey, not silver were minimal at best.  The Seahawk logo itself changed back to grey, however they only significant grey or silver additions to the uniforms came in the form of an alternate grey uniform.

This uniform is rather ugly in my humble opinion, and I think that they blew a great opportunity to make a more appealing outfit.  They better hope they are happy with their decision, because under current NFL rules a team can not make any uniform alterations for a 5 year period.

The NFL has kept the Wonderlic results under tighter wraps than usual this year.  Or maybe the media has had enough other things to keep itself occupied.
Regardless, the first eye-opening score has leaked from the 2012 edition of the 50-question Wonderlic test.  Per multiple league sources, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne scored a four.
Yes.  A four.  Out of 50.

Nike to unveil new uniforms today, Seahawks get facelift

When the new Nike-manufactured NFL uniforms are unveiled on Tuesday at an event in Brooklyn, Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor will be sporting the team’s new game attire.
The team’s website confirms that the Seahawks are getting a brand-new look, their first since 2002.
Cornerback Walter Thurmond, who knows a thing or two about creative football apparel from his time at the University of Oregon, has worn the new uniform, calling it a “new age” approach.  “It’s transitioning from where we are as an organization and where the league is going,” Thurmond said.
“With Nike, it’s always going to be something different.  It’s not going to be something traditional that everyone is used to seeing.”
It’s believed that the Seahawks logo has been adjusted to return gray to the color scheme, and it has been reported that the team’s alternate jersey will be gray.
No other teams are expected to undergo significant changes to their primary uniforms.  Some teams could get new alternate jerseys.  The Steelers have hinted at a change to their current third uniform, and Rams coach Jeff Fisher has said he’d like to ditch the yellow-and-blue outfit the team wore when beating Fisher’s Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV, opting instead for the team’s blue and white combination of yesteryear.
