When former NFL defensive tackle Warren Sapp recently declared bankruptcy, he listed his income at $45,000 per month from NFL Network on a contract that expires in August 2012.  Sapp said in the paperwork he’s not sure if the contract will be extended.
According to Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe, it probably won’t be.

Cut last month by the Giants, running backBrandon Jacobs officially has joined the 49ers, via a one-year, $2 million contract, which re-confirms that young players would be better off learning how to kick the ball than to run with it.
Jacobs met the San Fran media via conference call for the first time on Friday.  While he tried his best to say all the right things, he slipped on at least one occasion.
Asked whether starter Frank Gore or Jacobs should get the ball at the goal line, Jacobs said (via the Bay Area News Group), “Well, being 25 or 35 pounds heavier than Frank, I’d hope I’ll be the one to get it.”

Lions not taking a chance on Janoris Jenkins

North Alabama cornerback Janoris Jenkinswould fill a pretty big need on the Lions defense if they took him with the 23rd overall pick in the draft.
And that creates a problem for the Lions. The biggest reason Jenkins could be available at that point in the draft is because he was arrested twice on marijuana-related charges in three months while playing for the University of Florida. That led to his dismissal from the school and, added to some other character issues, has led to Jenkins getting knocked down boards below where the draft’s most talented cover corner usually winds up.
