The Rams ended the slide of cornerback Janoris Jenkins by selecting him with the 39th pick in the 2012 draft.  And even though Jenkins realizes that off-field issues made him slide, Jenkins will have a chip on his shoulder.
“I know my off the field issue was a factor,” Jenkins told SiriusXM NFL Radio.  “But, you know, my past is my past, I put that behind me.  And everybody that skipped over me, they just gonna pay for it.”
Jenkins vows that he’ll be different at the NFL level.  “When they get to know me, once you guys get to know me, I’m gonna be a role model for the kids outside of football,” Jenkins said.  “Y’all are gonna realize that I’m not a bad person, I just made a few mistakes and I learned from them.  And y’all are also getting a great football player that’s gonna buy into the program.”
Some regarded Jenkins as the best cover corner in the draft.  He’ll now get a chance to prove it.

A member of the Giants’ defensive front seven got a contract extension, but it wasn’t Osi Umenyiora.
The Giants have instead chosen to extendMathias Kiwanuka, who has moved between defensive end and linebacker during his career with the team. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports that it is a three-year deal that runs through the 2015 season. Kiwanuka’s now set to make $2.95 million in 2013, $4.375 million in 2014 and $4.775 million in 2015. No word on how much of the money is guaranteed and also no word on if his 2012 salary, which was cut from $4 million to $950,000, was converted into a bonus.

After round one, six potential draft picks remained in the green room at Radio City Music Hall.  Now, there are five.
Tackle Cordy Glenn has returned to Georgia, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.
It’s unknown why Glenn is leaving.  But it could be that after three excruciating hours of waiting on Thursday night, Glenn simply decided he has had enough.
Or maybe his simply didn’t want to be the last man standing.  Or sitting.

Colt McCoy: Browns told me they were not taking QB in round 1

Football wouldn’t be football if people involved in running football teams weren’t telling something other than the truth.
It happened in Cleveland on Thursday, when according to Adam Schefter of ESPN the Browns told quarterback Colt McCoy they wouldn’t draft a quarterback in round one.

The NFL brought a record 26 players to Radio City Music Hall for the draft.  Of the 26 players, 20 of them were drafted.
That means (math is hard) six are left.
And they are:  Stanford tight end Coby Fleener, Georgia tackle Cordy Glenn, Georgia Tech receiver Stephen Hill(pictured), LSU receiver Rueben Randle, Penn State defensive tackle Devon Still, and Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw.

There’s a good chance that Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu will be off the board by the end of Friday night, but for a brief moment he thought he was a first-round draft pick.
Sanu was watching the draft with his family on Thursday night when his phone rang. The Bengals were on the clock for the 27th pick, and the voice on the phone said that he was from the Bengals and that they would be selecting Sanu. As you might imagine, Sanu’s draft party exploded in joy that stopped just long enough for them to watch Roger Goodell announce the pick.
